Data quality has a direct impact on Dynamics 365 module
performance and ultimately business performance
Incomplete or inconsistent data that goes into the setup of a Dynamics 365 module will
have a negative impact on system performance: it can cause some features to malfunction andmay impede the smooth operation of business processes.
This is why Microsoft has introduced Optimization Advisor for
Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.
Optimization Advisor identifies business data that may be obsolete or incorrect, and then
for optimum module configuration. It’s a workspace tool that helps identify issues that may have an
effect on module performance.
Optimization Advisor periodically runs a set of best-practice rules.
If a rules-violation is detected, Dynamics 365 generates an optimization opportunity which appears in the Optimization Advisor workspace.
You take appropriate corrective action, directly in the workspace.
A default set of rules was released together with Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations version 8.0 in April 2018. You can however create your own rules, specific to your customization.
You can also use solutions provided by independent software vendors (ISVs).
Standard security policies apply to optimization opportunities.
For example, optimization opportunities that relate to configuration of the Warehouse Management module are visible only to persons who can setup Warehouse Management.
Depending on your setup and data, optimization opportunities may be company-specific or cross-company.
Cross-company opportunities can be viewed from all companies.
To view the opportunities for a specific company, just select that company.
Good data is critical to your organization’s ability to make informed decisions.
Optimization Advisor can make it happen.
